Rubber plant or Ficus elastica have broad, shiny attractive leaves and can come in a variety of colours. ‘Tineke’ has beautiful green with white and pink variegation and can grow anywhere from 2-10′ tall. They are fairly easy to care for and grow best in bright, indirect light, avoiding direct sunlight. They should be planted in a well-draining and well-aerated potting soil and watered when the top 1-2cm dries out, making sure that the pot they are planted in has good drainage. They can be re-potted into a pot size up (2″ larger) once they start becoming root bound in their current pot, and fertilized every couple of weeks in the spring and summer.
